About
Prosper Ndabishuriye

Prosper Ndabishuriye, was born on April 24, 1957; he is General Coordinator and Founder of Jeunesse en Reconstruction du Monde en Destruction(JRMD) - Youth in Reconstruction of a World in Destruction (YRWD).  In 2005 and 2006, he was nominated Giraffe Hero and Ambassador for Peace. Prosper is the former National Director of Campus Crusade for Christ International (CCC) and Secretary General of Evangelical Church of Central Africa (ECCA). Earlier in 1986-1988, he worked with his church to set up a school for the Blind as well as serving as the Project Coordinator. He is an evangelist by profession.

What Led Him To Start YRWD/JRMD?

Seeing the killing and destruction of homes that happened in Burundi, in October 1993 and the way politicians from both ethnic groups (Hutu and Tutsi) were misusing and manipulating young people to kill and destroy homes of those who did not belong to their ethnic group; a troubling question came to him: “What can I do in order to save the lives of those innocent people who are being killed by their fellow countrymen and bring those young people in a good direction, so that they may help rebuild their country instead of destroying it?”

Then, as a response to the question that was troubling him, he formed a team of 53 young people, made up of Hutu, Tutsi and Twa together and prepared them for a Mission of Hope and Peace for the people of Burundi; a mission of sharing Christ’s Love and Compassion in Action. After preparation and training of these young people, together, they started rebuilding homes and promoting peace and reconciliation among their divided community and nation.

Was This Rooted In His Spirituality?

This was not rooted to his spirituality, because his work with Campus Crusade for Christ International was a focus in matters of spiritual development, but seeing the terrible plight of his people in Burundi, he felt an urgent need to help them in their physical needs, because peace does not have any limit based on religion, group or culture; but Prosper Ndabishuriye believes that true peace and reconciliation comes through knowing and acting on the message of Christ, the foundation of peace and reconciliation.

His Mission

His mission is to share the Love of Christ in Action during all the time. This is about showing our solidarity and compassion in action to those in need.

To encourage Christians and Church leaders to share the LOVE of CHRIST in ACTION all the time and in all situations gives value to the Christian's life as it was before during the times of Jesus' disciples.
